Laura’s interest in conducting flourished alongside her vocal studies. She has worked with numerous choral societies in West Yorkshire and served as the Musical Director of the Leeds Conservatoire SU Chorus. This role led to an invitation to prepare the conservatoire’s chorus for a ‘Side by Side’ rehearsal with Opera North. During her final year in Leeds, she collaborated with the Ilkley and Otley Choral Societies and had the honor of guest conducting their 75th-anniversary concert. Concurrently, she assisted various conductors throughout England, both in orchestral and choral settings.
Currently, Laura serves as the Musical Director for several choirs across England, including Divertimento Voices, Warwick and Kenilworth Choral Societies, and HCS Voices—the training choir of Huddersfield Choral Society. She continues to guest conduct choirs nationwide, including the UK premiere of Novello’s edition of Ethel Smyth’s Mass in D with the Northampton Bach Choir.
Laura made her debut as a Chorus Master with Huddersfield Choral Society and HCS Voices in November, leading a performance of Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610, accompanied by His Majesty’s Sagbutts and Cornetts.
In 2023, Laura co-founded and became the Musical Director of The Elgar Scholars—Birmingham’s newest auditioned chamber choir, comprising young professional musicians who are alumni of academic and musical institutions in the West Midlands.
