About Daventry Choral Society

Founded in 1990

OUR HISTORY

Founded in 1990 by David Muggleton, our choir has flourished over the past decades, growing from strength to strength. We’re proud to be a diverse and enthusiastic group of around ninety singers, ranging from experienced vocalists to eager newcomers.

One of our standout moments was in 2015 when we commissioned “The Dane Tree,” a special piece to commemorate our 25th anniversary. This work not only celebrated our history but also showcased our commitment to fostering unique musical experiences.

At Daventry Choral Society, we’re dedicated to honing our craft and sharing our passion for music with the community through vibrant performances. We regularly participate in workshops and rehearsals that help develop our abilities and deepen our understanding of choral music.

Our efforts have not gone unnoticed; we’ve received accolades and support from various organiSations including East Midlands Arts, Daventry District Council, the Millennium Fund – Awards for All, and the R. Griggs Arts Marketing Fund.

OUR PERFORMANCES

Welcome to the Daventry Choral Society. Our repertoire spans a wide and exciting array of music. We perform everything from majestic oratorios like Handel’s “Messiah” and Brahms’ “German Requiem” to lively concerts filled with beloved ABBA tunes and classic Rodgers and Hammerstein hits.

The choir welcomes new members of all voice parts. Do come along on a Tuesday evening to have a listen. We’d love to meet you.
